Bohdan is an award-winning filmmaker, cross-cultural director, and optioned screenwriter who traces the thresholds where humans confront the unfamiliar, psychologically, culturally, and creatively. Born and raised in Slovakia, he moved at age nine to Algeria, then Germany, Canada, and the UAE, and now lives in California. Sixteen years of psychotherapy training informs his filmmaking, guiding his writing of complex characters, directing actors with precision and insight, and leading creative teams with clarity and purpose.
His filmmaking blends psychology, photography, painting, writing, music, martial arts, and Eastern and Western philosophy into a single gestalt, shaping diverse disciplines into a cohesive creative vision.
In 2022 he created & directed a documentary film with NHK Japan exploring the process of creativity titled "CHOREOGRAPHER of the SOUL" that aired four times into homes of 125 million viewers & is in the packaging stage of his feature film (psychological crime drama) “MOTHER MOTHER.”
His short narrative drama “CUDDLER” (2015) won awards & nominations from festivals around the world. He filmed & directed a short narrative drama “How We Dance” (2016) in Tokyo & Kyoto & his silent short narrative film “Thou” (2017) won the Gold Remi Award at the Houston International Film Festival (2018). He completed "Opportune" in 2018, a short narrative drama that premiered at the Toronto Black Film Festival.
